Last night signalled the beginning of the end of an era, as President Obama delivered his final address in office, in Chicago, Illinois. And to make the fact that Trump – a tremendous loser with no friends – can't seem to get anyone to agree to play his inauguration even more ironic, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam showed up to get the proceedings started.
His set included covers of Patti Smith's "People Have The Power", "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World" by Neil Young, and Labi Siffre's "Something Inside So Strong". He also included his own track "Rise". The song selections all seemed to hint towards the fact that for many Americans, there will be quite a fight ahead.
The night was an emotional one for Obama and his supporters (Vedder has been a vocal one), and marked the last time the outgoing president will speak directly to the nation, as the US, and the world, prepares itself to enter into the breach of the Trump administration next week.
