Girls Dreams

We'd usually tell you a little bit about the artist we're premiering, but in this case London based artist Sylvyen Nazaah is going to keep his details secret. Or, as he says, "on some Weeknd flex." What we do know, though, is that he's released a stunning music-video-cum-short-film by way of presenting his latest EP, BED ROCK, and we're premiering the whole thing below.

The film's concept centres on over-dependence and the dysfunctional aspect it can play in the game of love, especially when you become too attached. In the film, that idea is presented through a drug addicted couple. "The narrative dives through the peaks and valleys of addiction, from withdrawal and enabling, to a recovery attempt and corruption of the love interest," Nazaah tells Noisey over email. "The drug addicted couple then venture on a plan to rob local drug dealers in oder to feed their habit, which only brings them one step closer to their inevitable self destruction."

To gain a little further insight, it's worth peeping into the name BED ROCK too. Nazaah tells us that the word ROCK is centred on its colloquial, drug related meaning; "BED" signifies the comfort of home; the two words together, as "BED ROCK", are ultimately flipped as a metaphor for "rock bottom", as a place where one has grown accustomed to being comfortable.

The EP itself features four pieces of original music and you can listen below.
