Girls Dreams

When young grime MC Novelist turned nineteen back in January, he decided to celebrate with a four hour birthday set on London's Radar Radio, resulting in a party that has since become pretty legendary. It was kinda like that "girl advertises birthday party on Facebook" story from a few years back, but instead of 800 people turning up and destroying the place, the entire grime scene arrived, taking over the streets outside Radar to take turns spitting bars.

Until now, the whole thing had just been captured on the live radio broadcast via Radar Radio's Mixcloud, but now the legendary grime documenter Risky Roadz has released footage he shot on the streets that night, packaging it all into a cypher that includes: Skepta, Novelist, Chipmunk, Jammer, Shorty, Koder, Big Zuu and many more. It's nostalgic, it's hardcore, and it's 100% lit.

"It was crazy," says Risky. "It was the first time I've heard the new wave of MCs on set like that, with a load of the original dons. For me, in there with my camera, it felt like 2004 reloaded – the energy levels in the room were crazy! A real epic moment in grime."

You can follow Risky Roadz on YouTube here, but for now, here's a video he shot that night, followed up with one shot the same night by Radar.

Shout out Radar, shout out Novelist.
