Back in 2015 we brought you the second in Seattle rapper Mackned's Hurt Cobain series, describing it as a bridge between Kurt Cobain and Young Thug. Since then he's been consistently pushing forward beyond the realms of "emotional trap", knocking out G-funk bangers with The Flavr Blue, soulful collaborations with producer Eric G and dreamlike trap with Ryan Hemsworth. "Killing it", I think, is the term most often used.
Anyway, now Mackned is back with Hurt Cobain 3, which takes his foundations in crossbreeding grunge and trap and builds into a different sort of project for him – one that feels a little more composed and clear-headed without loosing any of the urgency that saw him drag Seattle feels-first into the 21st century to begin with.
