During a weekend that was, weirdly, the absolute worst but also in some ways the best, M.I.A. decided to bless us all with a gift in the form of this alternative version of her track "A.M.P (All My People)" just because she felt like it.
If you recognise the track, that's because it appeared on her 2013 album Matangi. The original version was produced by Skrillex and Leo Justi, and had the kind of bass that makes your face shake when you turn up the volume. This version, however, was produced by M.I.A. herself alongside UK producers Switch and Riton, and it's a lot more organic, with minimal drum samples and hollow, winding rhythms. Both versions are sick, but this one is even catchier in my very humble opinion. The track also appears with a strangely hypnotising animation of a rotating logo, which has had me staring, glassy-eyed, at my desk for a good few minutes now.
"This is a version of AMP requested by fans," M.I.A. wrote on Twitter. "Don't be a dick and remove it."
Listen below, before her label inevitably remove it.
