Girls Dreams

Melbourne's Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever got under our skin last year with their sharp, riff-laden debut EP Talk Tight, and their forthcoming follow up on Sup Pop promises they'll be doing no different in 2017. The EP's first single, "Julie's House," is all dizzy vocals and recklessness, an ode to being young and dumb that's kept in line by tight riffs and chugging rhythms that don't look back.

"I'm standing here / Like a burning house," lovelorn singer Fran Keaney laments amidst blurry late night memories and pangs of frustration. It's a cheeky reminder to make the best of things, and the track's video follows suit. After the group blew their budget when their original idea fell apart, they instead spent an afternoon filming Keaney mowing his lawn while an assorted cast of characters wander in and out of frame. It's a clumsy mistake, and one likely better than the original.
