Christmas specials are crap. They are designed to cater for boring aunties, and their only positive attribute is that they kind of distract you from the existential dread that cloaks you when you realise that you're sitting in the exact spot in your parents' living room as you were last year, having achieved nothing of note in the time in between. And anyway, it is Christmas, so it is the law that you watch Keith Lemon and Mary Berry compete in a turkey basting competition umpired by Scarlett from Gogglebox.
However, this year, change is on the horizon: you need not be subjected to the judges from Strictly doing a rendition of "Baby It's Cold Outside" any longer. This is the because Christmas special game has just been turned on its head, with the announcement that the man, the myth, the jet-ski legend DJ Khaled is slated to star in a YouTube Christmas feature, on behalf of the AIDS charity RED, alongside Mariah actual Carey. The title of this nailed on classic? The Keys of Christmas.
The video, which will be exclusive to the YouTube RED subscription service, is also set to feature Ciara and Fifth Harmony, and it will, according to Variety, explore "the true meaning of Christmas". And whilst I am all for festive sentiment, I mostly cannot think of anything that could possibly bring me more seasonal cheer than DJ Khaled yelling his own name whilst wearing a Santa costume.
