Quilling or paper filigree, is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs (source).
In an ongoing series entitled Tapis, artist Lisa Nilsson creates stunning paper versions of Oriental rugs (also referred to as Islamic carpets).
Nilsson received a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and was awarded the Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellowship, the Artist’s Resource Trust Grant and has featured her work in galleries across North America.
