About a bajillion years ago (over the summer) we premiered "School of Grand Affection" lifted from the Birmingham band's current album, Mothers. Back then we noted that their second record was a serious departure from their earlier stuff, and guess what? That still stands! They sound very different to when they were writing hazy (Brit)pop songs about loving Warpaint's Jenny Lee Lindberg. But anyway, now we have a visual to the synthy audio "School of Grand Affection" (imagine Bowie meets Late of the Pier meets Tears for Fears) and it really makes the song zing.
Imagine if your high school was run by an indie band. Like your teacher just casually dressed in white denim and a white turtleneck and a calf-length leather trench. Choir practice! School fights! Art class! Shiny happy faces learning about the wonder and power of music! One hundred percent attendance guaranteed.
