Describing themselves as "indie-punk with a short attention span", Woahnows are three friends trying to make their point in the best possible sounding way, pulling influence everywhere from Against Me! to Japandroids to Dananananaykroyd as they go. We're premiering "Person Up" below, and it's the kind of sunny-side-up track that would have warranted a video on P-Rock of them regrettably performing at a messy house party had it been released ten years ago.
Self-produced by the band at Livewire in Saltash, Cornwall (a youth music charity where singer/guitarist Tim Rowing-Parker works), "Person Up" is a power-pop driven banger that combines the sensitivity of Trust Fund with a sonic punch in the face of Gnarwolves. It's a long-overdue backlash against the phrase "man up", the sound of a wistful summer - and we'll warn you now, it's really bloody hard to stop listening to.
Person Up / Mess 7 will be released as a AA-side single via Specialist Subject Records on April 1 and is available to pre-order now.
