Girls Dreams

Last week, we went on a wild goose chase that was too good to be true. We were lured into thinking a video of an old man busker spitting grime bars on London's Carnaby Street was actually a real old man who was mad into Stormzy and XTC's "Functions on the Low" instrumental. We dubbed him Grime Grandad, but after much hunting, we discovered he was in fact a big phoney; the publicity stunt result of some white collar boardroom brainstorm.

We felt betrayed, hurt, heartbroken. We convinced ourselves to never be so foolish as to fall head over heels for another viral busking video ever again. We were better than that. Then Fatman Scoop's team sent us this one of him getting absolutely gassed over Amy Winehouse's "Valerie" (sorry The Zutons, but this song definitely isn't yours anymore) somewhere on the London Underground and, no joke guys, it had us at the words: "WHAT! LET'S GO! UH! OKAY!"

Look upon Fatman Scoop, dressed covertly in a the classic famous-person-in-a-normal-person-place disguise of hat, glasses and scarf; one that can only be described as "Dude, I swear that's 100% definitely Fatman Scoop, but kind of in disguise". Admire his enthusiasm. Learn from his dance moves. These moves came a long time before you kids and your dab. This is proto dab.

But let's be honest, if 99% of your love for Fatman Scoop comes from the UK success of "Be Faithful" then you'll be pleased to know that this entire video is basically him doing all those ad-libs, but over the top of this young singer as she tries to get through "Valerie" without being overawed by the sheer grit of Fatman Scoop chanting "DROP A QUID IN! DROP A QUID IN!" What a guy.
