We <3 Stormzy, you <3 Stormzy, everyone <3 Stormzy. His Beats 1 show #MERKY has quickly cemented itself as a TGIF highlight thanks to killer tunes, slow jams, appearances by our fave love machine alter-ego DJ Stiff Chocolate, and features that pay tribute to true dons of the UK music scene, like last week’s So Solid Crew retrospective and this week's focus on The Streets.
But all that pales in comparison to what he's got in store for tonight's show, because he’s going to be joined by one of the greatest record labels and garage lyricists to ever come out of 21st century Brentford. We, of course, mean Kurupt FM. MC Grindah, Beats, DJ Steves, Decoy and the man, the myth, the legend, Chabuddy G, will be beaming straight into ear canals worldwide at 8pm tonight in a show that also features a world exclusive of Stormzy’s remix of Ghetts' "One Take".
Obviously, when great lyricists end up in one room, bars need spat, and Grindah and Beats manfully square up with a version of "Shut Up", that nicely subverts Stormzy's lyrics to apply more to Brentford street life. Apple have kindly given us a preview, so watch it below, and tune into Beats 1 at 8pm tonight to hear the entire gang get #MERKY.
