Located at San Francisco’s famous Golden Gate Park, the Japanese Tea Garden created in 1894 is the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States.

The 5 acre (2 ha) garden contains paths, ponds, bridges, sculptures and tea houses. It was originally built as a “Japanese Village” as part of the 1894 World’s Fair but was later converted into a permanent park. Cherry blossom trees bloom throughout the garden in March and April.

For visitor info, directions and admission fees, visit the official website.
