Young grime MC Novelist has been a little quiet recently, but all the clues have been there to suggest there's been rumblings under the bonnet. At the start of September he announced his departure from South London crew The Square with the upload of an empowering new freestyle, and then last week a video appeared on the Twitter of NY rap group Ratking showing Novelist writing bars over a fresh sounding beat, which we can assume was Sporting Life. Now he's dropped new track "Endz", paired with a DIY video all filmed on what looks like his South London estate, surrounded by the mandem and one gnarly looking dog.
It's a pulsating new track, with an infectious hook which you can already hear getting screamed back at him on stage. But, being self-produced, it's also another chapter in Novelist's burgeoning beatmaking, and this instrumental on "Endz" is one part industrial, two parts turn up.
