Girls Dreams

It's been a long time since we heard from South London's Jerkcurb. Almost two years ago we caught him playing a live show with Fat White Family and King Krule in Brixton, where he aired his fantastic track "Midnight Snack" - and then he went quiet. Now though: he's back - and with a brand new full length record under his belt too. Today we're premiering the first release, "Somerton Beach", which is inspired by the true story of an unsolved mystery at Somerton Beach, where a fully clothed man was found dead and no-one ever found out who he was. If you're interested, there's a documentary on the mystery here.

"I wanted to evoke the sensation of being intoxicated on a beach", Jerkcurb told us over email. "The protagonist is the washed up outsider who never fulfilled his dreams". Co-produced by Steve Mackey, "Somerton Beach" is a suitably murk-ridden, midnight blue number; a track that that feels like someone gloriously stumbling through the wet-sand of a nocturnal beach setting before planting themselves, face down in the sand, with the waves licking their toes.
