Stormzy's debut album – officially titled Gang Signs and Prayer and due for release on February 24 – is definitely what one might call "long-awaited." That sort of expectation brings with it a certain amount of pressure, but you wouldn't know it from the new music video for "Big For Your Boots," the first single from the record.
You see, there was an imaginary bar in all of our minds, a marker of the level of greatness that Stormzy's new material might reach. And Stormzy has cleared that bar, only to go back and smash us all over the heads with it. Simply put, "Big For Your Boots" is amazing.
Spitting 2 Fast 2 Furious over a UKG vocal loop, Stormzy's rapid flow is in full effect, alongside a succession of visuals (shot under the guidance of director Daps) here to remind us that nobody has ever looked quite this class sat on the counter of a chicken shop before.
