Girls Dreams

Oakland singer Kehlani and Chicago's Chance the Rapper have a similarly down-to-earth approach to music. They both know that sometimes simplicity is the answer. This is particularly true in the video for their sleeper hit "The Way," off of Kehlani's excellent album from earlier this year, You Should Be Here. The song is a clear fan favorite, with millions of plays on Soundcloud, and, with the right marketing, could be a legitimate smash. The video, directed by frequent Chance collaborator Austin Vesely, might help. Very bare bones in its presentation, it shows Kehlani dancing to the slow and smooth beats of the song. Later, Chance shows up with his super slow, textured verse. It's simple, but that's the point, and it gets it across.
